The locals refer to it as 'the berg' or 'muzzies'.  It is a long stretch of beach break offering lots of sections to catch waves on.</p><h3>Surf Conditions</h3><p>Muizenberg Beach offers a mellow wave on a wide sandy beach in False Bay.  The seabed is sand.  The water is cold but maybe slightly warmer than the Atlantic side.  The water quality is pretty good but there are some small rivers and outlets into the Bay.  Things that are going be challenging are definitely the crowds.  This beach is always packed with locals, tourists and bathers.  Sharks can also be a hazard but there is a good system in place with shark spotters strategically positioned on the beach.</p><h3>Reading the Surf Forecast</h3><p>Swell doesn't always roll into False Bay from the big deep cold fronts so keep a close eye on the angle of the swell.  Because of this the surf doesn't always get that big.  In terms of wind for the Muizenberg surf report you are looking for a North Westerly or Westerly wind.  Cape Town gets some seriously strong wind known as the Cape Doctor.  Keep an eye out for really strong winds as they can ruin the fun.</p><h3>Beach Facilities</h3><p>Facilities are good with lots of public parking and good places to eat.
